The southern African country of Namibia is like nowhere else on the planet earth. It’s an adventurer’s paradise, offering thousands of kilometres of wilderness to explore, and an endless amount to do and see while staying in the region.

One of the most appealing aspects of Namibia is that it offers some of the very best camping sites on the entire continent.

Cape Cross Campsite

Part of Cape Cross Seal Reserve, this campsite can be found on the western coast of Namibia. There are around one hundred thousand Cape Fur seals that live within the area, feeding on the many fish that ride along the Benguela current, and it’s one of the largest seal colonies in the world.

Most visitors only stop to snap a couple of pictures of the seals before heading off again, but not far from the coast is the Cape Cross Campsite, an incredible campsite that offers the very best that Namibia has to offer. There are no modern amenities out here, but this just makes the experience that much more authentic.

Sossus Oasis Campsite

Sossusvlei is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Namibia, and it’s set in an area that consists of the perfect combination of blue sky and red sand dunes. It’s important to make an appointment for this particular campsite before heading out, as it’s common for it to be booked, sometimes for months at a time.

There are plenty of amenities at the site, including a kitchen, a bathroom, all of which are connected to the individual camping sites. Right in the middle of the camping sites is a small and cold swimming pool, perfect to escape the heat of the African sun during the day.

Garas Park Rest

A few hours from the main city of South Africa’s Johannesburg is the Garas Park Rest campsite, set in the desert. One of the first thing that a traveller will notice is a large, metal man, who points toward several other metal structures and sculptures that readily stick out against the desert background.

The campsite itself is set right in the middle of nowhere, so it’s important to take enough supplies when heading out. Campers will have access to a toilet, shower, as well as a wash block, but other than these amenities, there is very little else available this far out from civilisation, perfect for taking a break, but not so much when trying to keep up with the latest FIFA World Cup betting tips.

Namutoni

Another extremely popular location in the country is Etosha National Park and remains a fantastic place to visit to see some of the incredible wildlife that lives within the area. The eastern side of the park is home to a campsite known as Namutoni, and thanks to its location, it’s a great place to spend a few nights.

There are both chalets as well camping spots, along with restaurants, swimming pools, and a shop for basic goods. It’s also situated close to a wildlife watering hole, allowing visitors to peacefully watch the local wildlife come and go throughout the day and night.
